 Se comienza remontando un viejo sendero de pastoreo que parte desde la misma hostería. El sendero se interna en el Valle del Rio Alfredo (el mismo que alimenta de energía a la hostería), ascendiendo suavemente por las laderas del Cerro Huemul y con la melodiosa compañía del río. Luego de 40 minutos de caminata, se alcanza un impresionante punto panorámico, desde donde se puede apreciar la magnitud del cerro Fitz Roy emergiendo al otro lado del enorme Lago Viedma. La caminata continúa adentrándose en el valle que se hace cada vez más estrecho, rodeado por el Cordón Huemul y sus picos que alcanzan los 2700 m ; el glaciar de la Laguna azul ya se puede divisar en el horizonte del valle. El sendero se interna luego en un bosque de lengas y ñires. Durante el trayecto es común ver guanacos y cóndores que se acercan curiosos para observar al visitante. Luego de caminar 1 hora se llega al final del Valle donde se puede ver el río descendiendo en forma escalonada sobre la roca, formando una espectacular cascada de 300 metros de altura. El trayecto continúa rodeando la montaña para acceder a las nacientes del río, a las cuales se llega luego de una subida que se prolonga durante 50 minutos y coloca al explorador a la misma altura de las nieves eternas que se posan en las descomunales montañas que lo rodean. Unos 10 minutos de caminata y un pequeño bosque separa al visitante de su objetivo. Al llegar, se puede ver la laguna de un azul profundo y brillante que contrasta con el color oscuro de la montaña, y con el blanco del Glaciar que desciende desde lo mas alto de la cordillera para llegar hasta la misma orilla. El entorno es bellísimo e invita a la contemplación y reflexión en el absoluto silencio, que sólo es interrumpido por el tronar de las habituales avalanchas que se producen en las altas cumbres cayendo hasta el glaciar. The path enters the river Alfredo valley (the same one that provides energy to the lodge), gradually ascending by the sides of the Huemul Hill and with the musical noise of the river. After a 40-minute walk, a most magnificent view can be seen from where one can appreciate the magnitude of Mt. Fitz Roy emerging from the other side of Viedma Lake. The path continues to enter deeper into the valley that becomes narrower, surrounded by the Cordón Huemul and its peaks that reach 2700 ms in height; the Blue Lagoon glacier can already be seen in the horizon of the valley. The footpath then leads into a forest of “lengas” and “ñires”. During the journey it is usual to see guanacos and condors curiously approaching to observe the visitor. After a one-hour walk at the end of the valley, one sees the river descending in escalating form on the rocks, forming a spectacular waterfall at a height of 300 ms. The journey continues bordering the mountain to where the river rises and which is reached after a 50-minute climb and places the traveler where the snows are permanent on the mountains that surround him. A 10-minute walk and a small wood separate the visitor from his objective. Upon arrival, one can see the lagoon in a deep bright blue contrasting with the darkness of the mountain and the whiteness of the glacier which descends from the highest of the Andes Mountains to the very bank of the lagoon. The surroundings are beautiful and invite to contemplation and reflection in absolute silence, which is only interrupted by the sounds of the usual avalanches that take place from the summits falling to the glacier.
